ST. PATRICK’S, BIRSTALL U. C. M.
INVITATION TO PRAYER

At this time of isolation , when we are all having to adjust to a new way of living, the Leeds Diocesan U. C. M. are inviting us al to join them in prayer each Thursday evening at 7.00pm. This is a great way to show solidarity with each other and join each other in prayer at this time when we are unable to be together in our churches.

The prayers are available below to either read online or download if that would be easier.

Do please join us as we unite in faith and pray together for the needs of the world.

Each Thursday evening at 7.00pm

Thank you

U. C. M. MEMBERSHIP PRAYER

Leader: “And He went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was obedient to them: and His mother kept all these things in her heart. And Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature, and in favour with God and man.” ( Lk. 2:51 – 52)

Leader: Mother Most Admirable… Pray for us.
Our Lady of Good Counsel… Pray for us.
St Margaret Clitherow… Pray for us.
St Joseph, Protector of the Family… Pray for us.

Resp: Lord Jesus, you lived with Mary and Joseph at Nazareth and enjoyed family life, growing in wisdom and stature in the sight of God the Father and ourselves. Help the members of the Union of Catholic Mothers to follow this example of prayer, love and active witness to Marriage, Family and Christian Life in the world.
Make us understanding and caring to all experiencing difficulties and generous in support, so that one day we may all rejoice together in our Eternal Home.
AMEN

THE PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS

Leader: The harvest indeed is great but the labourers are few. Pray ye therefore, the Lord of the Harvest, that He send labourers into His harvest.” (Lk. 10:2)

Resp: God our Father, You have chosen to call men and women I every age to reveal Your love and make known the reality of the incarnation. You invite ALL people to follow You in a life of love and service in Your church. Enkindle in us a true sense of vocation.
Grant, Lord, that those whom You call to enter the Priesthood may accept generously so that the Sacrifice of the Mass will continue to be offered throughout the world. May Priests and Religious be constantly given to Your Church so that people in need will always enjoy, through them Your ministry of healing and find your help.
Give Your grace to recognise the path You are inviting us to take and the courage to respond.

We make our prayers through Jesus Christ, Our Lord.
AMEN

PRAYER FOR PEACE

The coming age of peace and justice
Let us see, O Lord, your mercy
And give us Your saving help.

I hear what the Lord God has to say,
A voice that speaks of peace,
Peace for His people and His friends
And those who turn to him in their hearts.
His help is near for those who fear Him
And His glory will dwell in our land.

Mercy and faithfulness and met;
Justice and peace have embraced.
Faithfulness shall spring from the earth
And justice look down from Heaven.

The Lord wil make us prosper
And our earth shall yield its fruit.
Justice shall march before him
And peace shall follow His steps. (Ps 84:8 – 14)

Lord, make ME an instrument of YOUR peace.

Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen
